1978 Pearl Blue/Black Top Convertable in great condition. I bought this bug in April to replace my original 78 Super that was wrecked in April. Its a great little car, but since then I have married, moved to the country on a dirt road, and just dont have the time to drive her. While she is in good shape, I dont think a daily 60 mile round trip drive on dirt roads is so good for her.
Anyway, onto the nitty gritty. The couple I bought her from had a powder coated paint job and new top installed within the last three years. She was mostly garaged kept, and they were the second owners I believe. I have some of their paperwork. The first owner also kept her in a garage. This would attribute to the 86,000 original miles!
Stock Fuel inection engine, working heat, complete windshield wiper kit, but it doesn't work. Original basketweave upholstery, original dash and wood "paneling".
We did have a new clutch, flywheel, and fuel pump installed, and I have the paperwork for it. Also a new acceleroator cable. She does have a starter problem in that it takes the key turning a couple of times to start, but I dont think this is a hard fix. Once she starts, she stays running.
The convertable top is in great shape, and I have the original boot. The headliner is dirty, and I will clean it before sale. All the silver trim is there, and the trunk closes and latches, but does not lock. Fully Carpeted and no wobbly seats. There is an aftermarket CD player in it which works. But the speakers will need to be replaced. The PO put in those cheap walmart speakers, and the one on the passengers side literally fell out of the door! The Driver's side hinge cover next to the bench seat is broken, but replaceable.
However, she does have some electrical gremlins I cannot track down. These prevent the parking lights from working as parking lights, and the right taillight does not work. Because I don't know how much it would cost being an electrical issue, I am dropping the price from 7250 to 6200 or best offer.
