This 19-foot Airstream is awaiting restoration in Chicago. At about 2800 lbs. and 350 lb. tongue weight, it's towable by small SUVs and pick up trucks. The Globe Trotter is one of the lightest, smallest vintage Airstreams around.
Features full bath, kitchen and sleeping for four.
Time to get real: for $4K, you get a gutted, in-need-of-a-complete-rebuild trailer, a body, frame and some of the original appliances like the shower, toilet and sink.
It has all the potential of a $30,000 rolling masterpiece, but you have to do all the work. Put your time and talents into this and either take it camping, or build it out as a pool cabana, guest cottage in your backyard, or even your personal studio, yoga room or office.
Skin and aluminum body are perfect, as are the axle, wheels and electric brakes. We towed this home from Seattle a few years ago without any problems, but just haven't had the time to tackle this project.
Maybe you'll be the one to bring it back to life. You don't find too many of these around Chicago.
