Big Apple Kindergarten
Job Title: Kindergarten English teacher
Location: Yong-in, South Korea, in the Kyonggi district (30 minutes by bus from Kangnam district in Seoul)
Salary: KRW 2,000,000/month (about $2,150 U.S.)
Overtime Pay: KRW 20,000/hour (about $21.50 U.S.)
Housing: Free housing (a single studio apartment, furnished; walking distance from the school; utilities separate – bear in mind that the cost of living in Korea is significantly less compared to the U.S. or Canada; high-speed Internet, for example, costs only about $20 per month, and there is no sales tax when buying merchandise)
Open Positions: 5 native English speakers; no prior experience necessary.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (salary will be adjusted accordingly for those with prior teaching experience and/or graduate degrees)
Starting Date: February 1, 2008 (spring semester will begin on first week of March)
Working Hours: M-F, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (120 hours/month) – the actual teaching hours, however, are only 3 hours per day.
Class size: 10 students and an assistant
Benefits:
• Round-trip Airfare (economy)
• Paid vacation (2 weeks)
• Paid holidays (10 days)
• Year-end bonus (equivalent to a month’s salary)
• Comprehensive Medical Insurance, 50% (medical, vision, dental, and prescription drugs coverage) – 50% of monthly premium will be paid for by Big Apple Kindergarten, which means you will be responsible for the other half, or about KRW 80,000 (about $85 U.S.)
• Tax is at 3 to 4%, all of which will be refunded in full by the Korean IRS to your bank account upon your final departure from Korea (only applicable for U.S. and Canada citizens)
