In recent community forums, youth are asking for access to more volunteer opportunities and healthy activities. Working alongside the mayor of Cottonwood and the City Council,this VISTA will be crucial in the process of coordinating and creating the opportunities Cottonwood youth are asking for.

REQUIREMENTS:

A. Education, Skills and Abilities
- College Degree or substantial related skills,
- 18 years or older. All ages are welcome, and encouraged to apply!
- Database design and management
- Volunteer Management System Development
- Research and Analysis
- Computer and Internet/Email Skills (Microsoft Suite, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher)
- Public speaking and presentation experience
- Project management skills and experience, documentation and organizational skills
- Effective problem solving skills
- Ability to understand "big picture" while completing detail oriented tasks
- Ability and desire to work with a variety of individuals who reside in rural communities
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Friendly and effective interpersonal skills, healthy sense of humor
- Ability and desire to travel independently on occasion (in Arizona)



B. AmeriCorps VISTA Member Benefits (Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week)

- Living Allowance - $10,380 for year of service
- Housing Subsidy - $100 per month
- Choice of a $4,725 education award OR a $1,200 cash stipend upon completion of service
- Health Care Benefits
- Relocation allowance (if eligible)
- Student loan deferment and reimbursement of accrued interest on eligible student loans
- 10 days paid vacation; 8 sick days
- Childcare assistance (if eligible)
- One year non-competitive eligibility (govt. employment) following service
- Eligible for President's Volunteer Service Award (1 year=Gold Award, 2 years=Call to Service)
